Departments

Department for Analysis and Knowledge:

The department helps ensure that the Ombud’s work is knowledge-based and that it has a good overview of developments in our areas. This knowledge includes analyses of our own documented experience as well as relevant statistics and factual knowledge from research environments and agencies.

Head of Department: Bjørg Unstad.

Department for Law Enforcement:

The department receives complaints from individuals and issues statements. The Ombud is an alternative to lawsuits in cases concerning discrimination. The department also monitors that Norwegian law and administrative practices are in accordance with Norway’s obligations pursuant to the United Nations International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women and the United Nations International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination.

Head of Department: Elisabeth Lier Haugseth.

Department for Dialog and Development:

The department is a driving force for a more equal society where there is better division of power and freedom and everyone is treated equally. Good dialogue with organisations and others who work for equality and against discrimination is a prerequisite for achieving results. The department is also responsible for the communication work at LDO.

Head of Department: Ingeborg Grimsmo.

Department for Legal Guidance:

The department provides guidance to individuals, employers and others who have questions about equality and discrimination and rights and obligations in the sphere of working life. The department also conducts supervisory activities relating to the statutory activity and report duty and provides guidance in this connection.
