The Ombud also gives advice

If you have a question about discrimination, you can send us an e-mail or a letter, call us or visit us at the Ombud’s premises.

Guidance cases

The Ombud gives legal advice regarding the Gender Equality Act, the Discrimination Act, the chapter of the Working Environment Act regarding equal treatment and the anti-discrimination regulations provided in the housing legislation.

Please contact us if you have questions regarding rights or obligations which you think have something to do with the regulations. The Ombud also provides guidance in cases affecting discrimination issues, which are not directly covered by the anti-discrimination legislation.

If your question is not within the Ombud’s remit, we will try to help you find the right place to direct your enquiry.

Confidentiality obligation

The Ombud is obliged to maintain confidentiality. This applies to all information that anyone working at the Ombud becomes aware of when processing cases or by any other means. The confidentiality clause applies to information you would normally keep to yourself.

This might be information regarding health, a situation in the workplace or other circumstances that you do not wish to disclose to others.

It is however important to know that not all information is subject to the confidentiality obligation. For instance, the name and personal identity number is at the outset public unless it discloses other information which is obliged to be kept confidential.
