The Ombud also gives advice
If you have a question related to discrimination, you can send an e-mail or a letter, phone us or visit us at the Ombud’s premises.
Advisory cases
The tribunal provides legal advice on the Gender Equality Act, the Anti-Discrimination Act, the chapter on equal treatment in the Working Environment Act and the anti-discrimination regulations in housing legislation.
Contact us if you have questions regarding your rights or obligations that you believe have something to do with this legislation. The Ombud will also provide guidance in cases relating to discrimination issues, but that do not directly come in under anti-discrimination law.
If your question relates to issues outside the remit of the Ombud, we will try to advise you on whom to approach.
The Ombud’s confidentiality obligation
The Ombud is obliged to maintain confidentiality. This applies to all information that becomes known to anyone at the Ombud in connection with processing cases or in any other manner. The confidentiality obligation would apply to information that one would normally keep to oneself.
This can relate to health questions, conditions in the workplace or other circumstances that one would not wish to disclose to others. It is however important to know that not all information is subject to the confidentiality obligation. For instance, your name and personal identity number is public at the outset unless this discloses other information that has be kept confidential.
